المغرب تستضيف الجمنزياد 2018م

During the 22nd ISF General Assembly, one of the important highlight has been the reestablishment of a 2 years cycle for the Gymnasiade as it used to be so, between 1974 and 1986.

On this occasion, the ISF members approved unanimously the bid of Morocco for the Gymnasiade 2018. It is an important milestone for the world of school sport and education. Indeed, for the first time in the ISF history, the African continent will host the biggest event of the School Sport.

Supporting the bid of Morocco, the ISF members expressed clearly their will to implement one of the beacons of VISION2030: “Towards more worldwide school sport”.

The ISF members are convinced that the strong proposal of Morocco will contribute to gather more African countries under the ISF umbrella and thus, contribute to structuring and developing the school sport on the continent.

The ISF Gymnasiade 2018 will be a promising and inspiring moment contributing to enhancing African countries towards the inclusion of school sport in their agenda. Laurent Petrynka, ISF President, stressed: “It is only by trusting and supporting the projects of African countries that ISF will have an impact on the development of school sport in Africa”.DSC_0956-copie-1024x684

Morocco made a smart move with Gymnasiade 2018 to be organised in Rabat. They introduced an innovative and sustainable project for the youth, education and sport, excellent facilities to host the participants and organise the event with the full support of the King of Morocco.

Last but not least, Mrs Nawal El Moutawakel, Vice President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), fully supported the bid. Through this video the former Olympian gold medallist expressed the great interest to host the biggest sport and education event in Morocco. She particularly underlined that school sport contributes to the education of youth but also to their sport path and career.DSC_0824-copie-1024x684

As Nelson Mandela said: “Sport has the power to change the world…it has the power to inspire. It has the power to unite people in a way that little else does. It speaks to youth in a language they understand (…)”.

We cannot wait for you in Rabat to give a meaning to Nelson Mandela ‘spirit during the Gymnasiade 2018,
